Another passion project

On a recent scroll, I came across this hilarious astrology account on instagram – @costarastrology – and enjoyed this little gem… Born August 4, astrologists would say I’m a Leo.

I don’t ACTUALLY need another passion project.

Now, I think, with my mind, that astrology (and crystals, tarot, … etc.) is just a big stinky pile.. But, if I look at it sideways, considering astrology as a genre of storytelling and play, a fantastically imaginative structure that people have built to stitch the chaos of reality into a coherent shape, I can appreciate it as a delicious source of lies, interesting stories and off-beat humour.

And no, I don’t ACTUALLY need another passion project. I really, really don’t.

I’m currently working on a book of knitting patterns, a computer programming project, and a home renovation, running my business, learning Spanish, preparing an immigration application, and raising a 5 and 7 year old while trying not to alienate my husband… And that’s just the big picture.

Nonetheless, I’m still SERIOUSLY tempted to take part in NaNoWriMo this coming November. I wrote a 50,000 word novel draft in November 2017, and that experience was one of the most joyful in my life so far. It was an extended holiday into a fantasy world of my own creation.

Which brings us to another great one liner from @costarastrology… maybe it’s time to

Stop Avoiding My REALITY

All this is to say that I am teetering on the edge of another passion project, wondering what I can do to avoid falling into this sweet sticky trap! As if writing each day of my 40th year weren’t enough…
